Queerness and Transness 101 is the first workshop in a three-part Social Justice 101 series.
This session provides a foundational overview of cisheteropatriarchy, structural discrimination against queer and trans communities, and the systemic forces shaping LGBTQIA+ experiences. Participants learn shared terminology, explore identity markers used within queer and trans communities, and unpack how gender and sexuality are policed across cultural, social, and diasporic contexts. The workshop also invites participants to understand queer politics as a liberatory framework grounded in solidarity, self-determination, and collective care.
